A brand new year means a fresh new start. Spring signifies new life and new beginnings, a start of a new season. Hopefully, with New Coach Derek Dooley, this spring can get off to a good start and prove to be productive. Spring ball is set to start March 18 with the annual Orange and White game right around the corner on April 17.Coach Dooley will have a full plate as he looks to mesh his staff and assess the talent he has inherited in his first season on the job. Dooley will have several vacancies to fill as several players from the offensive line have moved on, and an even bigger slot where Eric Berry used to prowl in the defensive backfield.

Even more intriguing, is the question of who stands the better chance at starting QB? UT will display at least five QB's this year with a possible sixth candidate on the sideline. While this is a good problem to have, for the most part, the players are undefined and have not proved themselves including Senior who has started only six games in his career at UT. is considered a favorite, and who has flourished at this position at the JUCO level.
Many Fans are interested in seeing how the new coaches adjust to their new environment. While only a few remain from last seasons staff, majority are new and have never experienced a Vol Walk, or 108,000 screaming fans in one stadium rocking the house that Neyland Built.
This spring signifies a New Beginning much like last one. Except this time the picture is a little clearer and the pieces of the puzzle seem to fit a whole lot better.
