Curt Maggitt Commits To Tennessee: 4-Star LB Leaves Florida Behind For The Vols

Four-star linebacker, Curt Maggitt has given his verbal commitment to Head Coach Derek Dooley and the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

The commitment came late Tuesday evening and aside from being a major pick up for the Volunteers, fans from the Gainesville area are considering the loss of Maggitt to be quiet significant.

Florida had been considered the leader for the services of Maggitt for several months but Derek Dooley and his recruiting staff have worked tirelessly and their efforts are showing up in a big way for the Volunteers.

Maggitt, from West Palm Beach, FL, had no less than 19 offers from programs including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, FSU, Georgia, LSU, Miami, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Notre Dame.

The 6'3" 195 pound speed demon from Dwyer High School is ranked as the nation's 12th best outside linebacker by Rivals and is listed as the 198th overall prospect, nationally, in the Rivals250.

Maggitt is rated as the number 3 player at his position by ESPN and as the number 63 overall prospect on the ESPNU150.

Incidentally, Maggitt's coach at Dwyer High School is named Jack Daniels. Was there ever really any doubt he would end up at Tennessee?

Maggitt becomes the 26th member added to Derek Dooley's recruiting class of 2011 and provides the Vols with valuable depth at the linebacker position. The Florida native joins Georgia's A.J. Johnson as the second linebacker in the class.

Dooley and the Vols continue their climb up the national recruiting rankings and are now all the way up to number 10 at Scout and number 12 at Rivals.
